Lisnave repaired 55 ships in the
first half of the year
During
the first semester of 2011, Lisnave reports having been busy and
achieved better results than the same period of the previous year. In
total, 55 vessels were repaired in Mitrena, nine more than the same
period in 2010, from 37 clients in 20 countries.
Despite the economic and financial crisis that has
negatively affected the ship repair activity in the last three years,
Lisnave has been able to maintain an interesting level of work in the
first half of 2011.
Of the 55 vessels repaired in the first half of 2011,
11 came from Greece, nine from Germany and six from Singapore. Repairs
were also carried out on four vessels each from Cyprus and the special
administrative region of Hong Kong. It is also noteworthy that from
Japan and Denmark came three ships each.
Another important indicator is the “repeat business”
from companies and shipowners around the world who rely on Lisnave the
maintenance responsibility of its vessels. This illustrates the
credibility, confidence and the acknowledging of the high quality of
work done by the Yard by a large number of clients. This period saw such
working coming from important clients as Singapore’s AET Shipmanagement,
with five vessels repaired, Hong Kong’s Misuga Kaiun HK Ltd and Greece’s
TSAKOS Columbia Shipmanagement that delivered three vessels each for
repair. Other important repairs were carried out on vessels from
Columbia Shipmanagement, Unicom Managements Services and Euronav
Shipmanagement.
One of the major repairs was performed on the cruise
vessel “Island Escape” from Thomson and managed by “Columbia
Shipmanagement”. This ship spent four months in the Mitrena Yard.
Having an accumulated and diversified know-how, Lisnave
undertakes work on all types of vessels. However, the focus of activity
remains in the traditional segments, with the tankers contributing
significantly to the total activity with 29 repairs performed, plus 14
containers, four bulk carriers and two passengers, among others.
