-Signals New Era in Ship-Maintenance Automation-

Stuart, Florida, August 9/PRNewswire/--UltraStrip Systems, Inc. (“UltraStrip”), the developer of high production, environmentally friendly robotic ship-hull cleaning equipment, announced that it has agreed to a five year agreement with Tecor-Tecnologia Anticorrosao, S. A. to be the exclusive ultra high pressure water jetting contractor at the ship-repair yard of Lisnave, Estaleiros Navais, S.A. in Portugal. Lisnave, established in 1937, is one of the largest and busiest heavy marine ship repair yards in the world. The agreement reflects the shipping industry’s growing concern for protecting the world’s oceans and waterways through technology that concurrently maximizes cost efficiencies.

UltraStrip President and CEO, Stephen R. Johnson, stated, “Tecor and Lisnave’s choice of UltraStrip’s high production, environmentally sensitive M3500 Robotic System is further recognition of the shipping industry’s need to automate traditional coating removal processes while protecting the environment and the health of shipyard workers. Lisnave’s scheduling needs require quick turnaround times in the dry dock and the high production M3500 Robotic System will allow the surface preparation work to be completed simultaneously with other trades finishing their work. Normally, if the ship were being grit blasted, other trades would not have been able to work while the grit blasting was in progress. This technology is also capable of completely containing all the hazardous paint material for proper disposal.”

Mr. Jose Antonio Rodrigues, Chairman of the Board of Lisnave, stated, “We look forward to working with UltraStrip and their high production, state-of-the art robotic systems. We have successfully utilized this equipment on some vessels in our ship yard and are pleased to provide this environmentally responsible technology to our customers on an ongoing basis.”

UltraStrip is a water-engineering firm that develops and sells patented equipment to provide solutions to environmental problems. The Company’s Mobile Water Filtration Systems, provided through its Ecosphere Technologies subsidiary, provides a solution to use its powerful water-filtration and purification technology in the world’s most challenging applications, both in developing regions, and in areas hit by man-made or natural events that damage vital water resources. UltraStrip’s patented robotic water jetting systems are designed to provide an environmentally safe coatings removal process in both heavy marine, automobile, and above ground storage tank applications. The robotic systems have been utilized for U.S. Naval ships, cruise ships, and tankers in ship yards throughout the world.
