The tanker «New
Vision» arrived at Setúbal Harbor, after the damages caused by a strong
storm in the Atlantic and after transferring its crude oil cargo at
Sines Harbor. At Lisnave the vessel is going to be submitted to repair
works that will make it secure to navigate again.
«New Vision» will join other 12 vessels
that are at the moment, doing maintenance works at this Setúbal big
shipyard.
Maintenance and Repair Shipyards are an
essential tool for granting the environment quality, specially the
quality of the seas, being LISNAVE Shipyard the only in Portugal and one
of the few in Europe with conditions to receive ships with such
dimensions.
In fact, a vessel is a complex
industrial unit whose maintenance has the purpose of guaranty its good
conditions, both operational and safety. These types of works are done
by maintenance/repair shipyards, where the vessels are regularly
inspected and repaired so that its tasks could be accomplished, reducing
the risks of accidents and preserving the maritime environment.
