The European Commission is giving
priority to one of the strategic areas that can influence the
development of our country, by giving more importance and debating
Europe maritime policy.
Therefore, and because of the importance that the Sea has for Portugal,
historically, socially and economically, Lisnave–worldwide leader in
ship-repair - is paying special attention to this European process of
re-definition of maritime policy.
Through a careful and realistic management, an
upgrading of vital areas of the Company, such as Preventive Safety,
Environment responsibilities, introduction of new equipment, and
improving the skills of its collaborators,
Lisnave continues to improve its performance and
result. The results of the first half of 2006, compared with the same
period of last year, show a considerable increase in global activity
(+9%), resulting from a bigger share of the market, with more vessels
repaired (+ 20%), representing a bigger invoice volume (+ 17%).
Lisnave exports 97% of its activity, through services
rendered to fleets coming from all over the world, from Japan to Qatar.
Of the vessels (66) repaired in the first half of 2006, Lisnave has
among its European clients, owners from Germany, Denmark, Greece and
United Kingdom.
Of the usual non European clients, Singapore, Japan and
the United States of America are the countries that most frequently
choose Lisnave to carry out repair/maintenance works.
In an activity area with a strong international
competition, Lisnave successfully attracts work on a wide range of types
of vessels, from container vessels, cruise vessels, Ro-Ro’s and chemical
tankers. The types of vessel that most visit the Shipyard are oil
tankers and bulk carriers. |
